Wisconsin was once considered a reliably blue state, part of the so-called Rust Belt. It became a huge battleground state after former President Donald Trump won a narrow victory there in 2016. The state went back into the Democrat's column in 2020, but once again their victory was a narrow one, and the polarization within the state became clear.

It seems strange to think of Georgia as being a swing state. Up until the 2020 election, it was considered a safe red state, landing safely in the Republican column in every election before that since Bill Clinton won the state in his first bid for the Presidency (only to lose it to Bob Dole four years later.)

Among the most hotly contested of the swing states in the 2024 Presidential election is also one of the contest's biggest prizes. Whichever candidate gets the most votes for President in Pennsylvania also gets the state's nineteen electoral college votes, the most up for grabs in any of the swing states.
